Artist Statement

I want my photography to inspire people to travel and to experience life as others do. I want my work to help form someone's dream or even the idea to journey out into a place they have yet to go. I want my photographs to remind of places traveled, paths taken, and dreams not yet lived. My wish is that my passion and dream of photography might be a memory, an idea, or an emotion for others.

I have worked in color and black and white photography. My philosophy is that certain subjects merit being shot in black and white while others are better observed in color. The vivid colors add to the moments in time I have captured from places afar. Ever since I was a young girl, I have had wanderlust. I have a desire to see new places, meet new people, and experience new cultures. Ever since I can remember, it has been a desire of mine to live in another country, experience the life there, and learn another language. I lived in Athens, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia where I received an undergraduate degree in Art History, 1993 and a Masters degree, 1997. I have made 4 trips to Europe in 2 years and previous trips to Hong Kong and Mexico. I found the details and locations off the beaten path intrigued me most. I love the intricacies and minor details of quaint, European cities. In shooting everyday subjects such as bicycles, doors, alleyways, and portals, I am able to bring the viewer into these special moments. In my quest to journey into a place I have yet to go, it is my pleasure to bring others with me.
